Scene 1 (0s)

Erode Sengunthar Engineering college ( Autonomus ).

Scene 2 (13s)

Environmental Science and Engineering. What is EVS ? Environment can be defined as a sum total of all the living and non-living elements and their effects that influence human life. While all living or biotic elements are animals, plants, forests, fisheries, and birds, non-living or abiotic elements include water, land, sunlight, rocks, and air.

Scene 5 (1m 1s)

DEFINITON. What is Biotics?. Biotic is defined as anything relating to living organisms. It is often used to explain influencing factors or conditions in the environment of a living organism, that are caused by another living organism or biological entity.

Scene 7 (1m 35s)

BIOTIC components Food availability (alligator diet consists Of fish, frogs and invertebrates) Competition (with snapping turtles and herons for food and other alligators for space/ food/ mates) Disease (caused by bacteria, viruses or fungi) Parasites (such as flatvvorrns) Plants (eg. bald cypress, svvamp gum, lily pads— provide shade, protection and habitats for prey, recycle nutrients, absorb C02 and provide 02) ABIOTIC components Temperature of the air/ water (particularly important as alligators are cold—blooded) Climate (rainfall, humidity, wind... all affect the gator's activity) Sunlight (intensity as vvell as length of day/night) Oxygen available (they need it for respiration) pH and salinity (could affect its drinking water supply, also indirectly in terms of food availability and plant activity).
