[Audio] Good Day. I will present the engineering quiz regarding non destructive test for concrete. I will explain about the scope, question and the answer..
[Audio] What is the Non Destructive Test for Concrete. It is a testing method used to determine potential concrete defect such as honeycomb, cavities and void inside concrete without causing damage to the existing concrete structure. There are some method for NDT for concrete structure which are : Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test or UPV Ultrasonic Pulse Echo Test Ground Penetrating Radar or GPR And some others.
[Audio] First is the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity or you can call as UPV. This test is conducted by passing a pulse of ultrasonic through concrete to be tested and measuring the time taken by the pulse to get through the structure. Higher velocities indicate good quality and continuity of material while slower velocities may indicate concrete with cracks and void. Below some description of UPV test for you reference..
[Audio] Second is The Ultrasonic Pulse Echo Test The test principle is based on Ultrasonic waves that transmitted to structure. The transmitted wave beam is reflected within the play and the flaws, the return to the flaw that can be both transmitter and receiver. Positioning fault is done by interpreting the signal. Below of sample photo of void being captures on the Pulse echo test for your reference..
[Audio] Third is Ground Penetrating Radar or GPR The GPR system consist of a transmitter, a receiver and a computer for data acquisition and control. The transmitter sends a radio wave into the ground while the receiver listen for returning reflections. Reflection occurs when the radio wav hits a material that is different from the host material (concrete for example). Below of some photos of GPR test result for your reference..
[Audio] And Finally the question. Are you ready The question is From above three method, which is the best method to conduct NDE for big area such as concrete floor slab? Is it UPV test, Ultrasonic Pulse Echo Test or the GPR test..
[Audio] The Answer is GPR Test Because GPR can cover big area and also faster option compare to UPV and Pulse Echo Test, where for UPV and Pulse Echo test is only cost effective for smaller scale area/local area assessment. Thank you for attending the presentation..
