Atoms are the smallest particle of an element which can take part in a chemical reaction.

A Molecule is the smallest particle of a substance that is capable of independent existence.

1. All elements are made up of small indivisible particles called ATOMS 2. Atoms cannot be created nor destroyed.

MODIFICARTION OF DALTON’S ATOMIC THEORY

Atoms of different elements combine a simple whole number ratios to form compounds.  Atoms cannot be created nor destroyed

Atoms of the same element are not alike but may differ with different masses.  Atoms of different elements can combine together to form molecules.

These are the fundamental particles of an Atom which includes:  Protons  Electrons  Neutrons

The atomic number of an element is the number of protons present in the  neucleus   of the Atom

The Mass number of an element is the sum of the Protons in the Neutrons in the Atomic Nucleus of the element.

Isotopes are Atoms with the same Atomic Number but different Mass Number.
