FOXG1 syndrome is a monogenic neurological orphan disorder caused by a mutation in the FOXG1 gene.  FOXG1 was formerly named Brain Factor 1 due to being the first and most fundamental gene formed during human development. FOXG1 encodes the Forkhead box G1 protein. FOXG1 is a transcription factor gene – it transcodes data to tell our brain how to grow cells and contributes to development of the telencephalon, which is an embryonic structure that gives rise to the cerebrum. Cerebrum is the most important part of the brain – it controls cognition (walking, talking, thinking). The following pathogenic variants have been observed in FOXG1 syndrome patients: deletions, duplications, missense, nonsense, truncation and frame shift variants.

Problem statement: The hallmarks of FOXG1 syndrome, which results from mutations in a single  FOXG1  allele, include cortical atrophy and corpus callosum agenesis. However, the etiology for these structural deficits and the role of FOXG1 in cortical projection neurons remain unclear.(Cargnin et al., 2018) Significant of study By understanding on the role of  FOXG1  in regulating formation of cerebral cortex it could shed light on the etiology of FOXG1 syndrome Objective To review the molecular basis of cortical hypoplasia in  FOXG1  syndrome

The research information will be collected from Google Scholar, PubMed,ScienceDirect and ResearchGate by key in keyword such as Foxg1, Foxg1 syndrome and Foxg1 disorder. All the research paper will be downloaded and storing in one specific file in order to keep all the research paper. The usage of Zotero desktop as reference manager will be us to keep track of reference and providing an easy access to the article
