The effect of caffeine consumption on heart rate

Scene 2

Place middle finger and index finger on the neck (below the chin and next to the throat) and press down gently. Feel for a pulse. Start a timer for 15 seconds and count how many pulses there are until the timer stops. Multiply the number of pulses by 4 and you will have your heart rate (beats/minute) and record your results.

Create a record sheet and place it near the kettle or coffee making station. Provide a pen as well. Inform participants that for every cup of coffee consumed, a tally mark should be recorded next to their name. Once all the data has been collected, total all the cups of coffee consumed per participant and record your findings.

Shows that participant A had the most cups of coffee and partcipant C had the least

Shows that after drinking coffee an individual’s heart rate increases. Also shows that participant A has the highest heart rate and participant C has the lowest heart rate

On day 2, participant C consumed no coffee and her heart rate barely increased. On days where participant A and B consumed the same amount of coffee participant A’s average heart rate after coffee consumption was still higher. On days where participant C consumed more coffee than participant A and B), she still had a lower average heart rate after consuming coffee

There is a correlation between the amount of coffee one consumes and one’s heart rate. Thus, the hypothesis was accepted by the different experiments performed for this scientific report as coffee consumption does indeed affect one’s heart rate.
