Should You Ask Permission?
You are performing an internal network audit. You decide to utilize port scanning
technology to determine network security and vulnerability.
Since you are performing port scanning to diagnose network problems and to
detect vulnerabilities on the network, is this legitimate activity if you do not inform
the company that you will use this means of detection for the audit?

Audit Penetration Tests that Co Wrong
- Should You Have?
To adequately perform a network audit, you go above and beyond the
requirements of your job and attempt to hack into the network without consulting
the company first. You do this to determine how easy it is for an intruder to break
into the system and plan to write this information in the audit reports.
However, once you penetrate the network something goes terribly wrong and the
entire system crashes. Are you at fault or was this just part of your job?

Both of your clients pressure you for information about the other's systems as the
audit proceeds. When you accepted the position of auditor, the agreement

divulge the results first to each company.
Since they are merging, it seems harmless to provide that information. Do you
