[Audio] As a teacher in Consumer/Creative we have discussed various aspects of safe driving in our Masterclass. In Section 2 we will be focusing on the importance of looking ahead while driving. All drivers are aware of the need to look ahead but many do not look far enough ahead which can be a crucial mistake that can lead to accidents on the road. The reason why looking far ahead is so important is because stopping or changing lanes requires a considerable amount of distance and in order to do so safely we need to have a clear understanding of the traffic around us. This is where looking far ahead comes in. By keeping a careful eye on all sides we can ensure that we have enough space to make any necessary maneuvers without putting ourselves or others at risk. So how far ahead should we be looking? Most experienced drivers recommend looking ahead at least 12 to 15 seconds which is roughly equivalent to one block at lower speeds and about a quarter of a mile on the highway. By adopting this practice we can stay ahead of any potential hazards and navigate through traffic safely. In conclusion as drivers it is our responsibility to not only look ahead but to look far enough ahead. Let's make it a habit to scan the road and anticipate any potential risks. This way we can ensure the safety of ourselves and those around us. Thank you for your attention and I look forward to seeing you in our next session..
[Audio] Class welcome back to our Class A CDL Masterclass. Today we will be discussing lane changes and the importance of using your mirrors. As a responsible driver it is crucial to check your mirrors before making a lane change to ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road. Remember to check your mirrors before and after signaling as well as right after starting the lane change. Some of you may be using large vehicles with curved mirrors which provide a wider view. However it's important to note that objects may appear smaller and farther away in these mirrors. Therefore it is crucial to always double-check your surroundings before changing lanes. Using your mirrors effectively is vital for safe driving and can significantly reduce the risk of accidents. So always stay aware of your surroundings and remember to check your mirrors. See you in our last slide..
[Audio] In the final slide of our Class A CDL Masterclass we will discuss the important topic of safe driving. As commercial truck drivers it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of ourselves and others on the road while also maintaining the success of our business. Proper communication through the use of turn signals is crucial for safe lane changes and to allow other drivers to anticipate our movements. Giving ourselves enough time and distance to come to a complete stop is essential especially when approaching a red light or stop sign or when following other vehicles. When passing other vehicles it is necessary to do so safely and efficiently by using turn signals and giving enough space for the other vehicle to merge back into their lane. Lastly when parked on the side of the road we must use our hazard lights and reflective triangles to alert other drivers of our presence and prevent accidents. Thank you for joining our Masterclass on Class A CDL and safe driving. We hope you have gained valuable knowledge and techniques to become a responsible and skilled commercial truck driver.
