About the Study Chair. Date and Year of Establishment of the Chair: 2015 The chair for Bhaskaracharya Studies and Research was instituted in Karnataka State Women’s University, Vijayapura , by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka (vide G.O. No « AiÀÄ E 210 « ÄvÀæªÀÄ 2015, ¨ÉAUÀ¼ÀÆgÀÄ ¢£ÁAPÀ 20-07-2015 ) in the year 2015 with the financial grant of Rs . 1.00 Crore ..

About the Study Chair. Bhaskaracharya II was a 12th century Indian Mathematician. He was also a renowned astronomer who accurately defined many astronomical quantities. Known as greatest mathematician of medieval India, he filled many of the gaps in his predecessor Brahmagupta’s work. Bhaskaracharya himself gave the details of his birth in a verse in the Arya metre according to which he was born in 1114 near Vijjadavida ( Bijjaragi of Vijayapur in modern Karnataka)..

Functions of the Chair. To study contributions of Bhaskaracharya in Mathematics and Astronomy Study contributions to Indian Mathematics by scholars, Aryabhata, Brahmagupta , Bhaskaracharya and Varāhamihira . To promote Research in the field of Indian Mathematics. Promote Vedic mathematics at school, college and university level. Make it easy for students to learn mathematics - Setup a training center for creating Mathematical models. Promote Science and Technology by conducting workshops/seminars/symposium at affiliated colleges and University campus. Invite project proposals, to study works on Bhaskaracharya and other eminent Indian mathematicians, from students, faculty and interested individuals from the society and providing seed money to the selected projects ..

Science Day Celebrations 2022. Theme of National Science Day (NSD) 2022: Integrated Approach in S&T for Sustainable Future. the four fold approach would consist of integration of all the scientific departments which can work on theme based approach; extended scientific integration encompassing engineering; medical and other institutions; extra scientific integration involving identification of the needs of other ministries like jal shakti , railways etc ; and extended science driven all inclusive approach integrating startups & industry.
