[Audio] Lets stat with introduction to diabetes Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar. The hormone insulin moves sugar from the blood into your cells to be stored or used for energy. With diabetes, your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't effectively use the insulin it does make. In the world 468 million people are suffering from Diabetes whereas in India the number is 78 million.

[Audio] Lets understand about Type 1 diabetes Type 1 Diabetes affects 5 % to 10 % of Diabetic population Generally it happens to people who are Below 20 Years of age Type 1 Diabetes happens when There is a Complete loss of β- cells due to autoimmunity Only treatment option available is Insulin injection Type 1 Diabetes is also called as Juvenile Diabetes or IDDM i.e. ( Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus).

[Audio] Now Lets understand about Type 2 diabetes Type 2 Diabetes affects 90 % to 95% of Diabetic population Generally it happens to people who are more than 40 Years Type 2 diabetes happens when Your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't effectively use the insulin it does make. treatment option available is Oral Antidiabetic Drugs and insulin injections Type 2 Diabetes is also called as Mature onset Diabetes or NIDDM i.e. ( Non Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus ).

[Audio] Lets understand about Gestational diabetes Gestational Diabetes affects 2 % to 3% of Diabetic population It happens during pregnancy Gestational diabetes happens when The hormones released from the placenta during pregnancy makes a cells less sensitive to the effects of insulin. Treatment option available is Diet modification and Insulin injection if required.
