BRIEF INTRODUCTION. The County MP also known as the Woman representative for Busia County, Hon. Catherine Omanyo has been able to achieve a great number of affirmative action objectives in her quest to improve the living conditions of the most needy and vulnerable groups among the community in Busia County in her few months in office. Her zeal and determination for the girl-child, the elderly, People Living with disabilities and teenage mothers can be seen as below;.

1.FULL SCHOLARSHIPS TO BRIGHT AND NEEDY STUDENTS.

Sarah Nyongesa from Koteko in Teso North Sub-County and Nekesa Mambo from Nambuku in Funyula Sub-County being admitted to Nangina Girls High school by the County MP.

Levisham Ekitwi with hearing impairement from Kamarinyan’g , Teso -South Sub-County was admitted to St. Bridget Akoret School for the deaf to pursue his education and nurture his talent; he is an excellent footballer and sprinter..

Highlight of the Full-scholarships.

2.SECOND CHANCE. Teenage mothers who dropped out of school because of pregnancy were also given a chance to go back to school. 6 teenage mothers got an opportunity to go back to school and pursue their dreams.

3.ANTI-JIGGER CAMPAIGNS. The County Mp rolled out the fight against jiggers in Teso -South and Teso -North sub-counties which have the highest rate of jigger infestation in Busia County, targeting to improve the hygiene and physical environment of school-going children and the less privileged in the region. Jigger extraction and treatment were the main activities. A total of 200 people who include children, the elderly and people living with disability benefitted..
