COVID-19 has drastically changed the way global education is delivered. As a result of the pandemic, thousands of students were affected by educational institution closures, leading in the greatest online shift in educational history. Schools were compelled to swiftly adapt to virtual and digital methodologies as a result of this dramatic shift away from classrooms in many parts of the world. The majority of individuals believe that online distance learning will continue to be used even after a pandemic. For instance, a  new hybrid model of education is expected to emerge, and given the digital gap, new instructional practices may exacerbate equity inequities. This research goal to empirical studies aims to investigate the impact of the abrupt shift from face-to-face to online distant engagement. due to the COVID-19 lockdown.Due to the aforementioned data, the researchers were triggered to conduct a study on the impact of modular distance learning on the academic performance of students in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The findings from this study will provide data that may be used in formulating distance learning modules.

The  main concern of the study is  to determine the impact of modular distance learning to the behavior and academic performance of SHS students  amidst of Covid-19 Pandemic.                Specifically, sought  to answer the following questions: 1. What is the impact of modular distance learning to the academic performance of SHS students Amidst Covid -19 pandemic? 2. How does Covid 19 pandemic affects the behavior of SHS students? 3. Is there any significant relationship between SHS students behavior and academic performance towards modular distance learning amidst covid-19 pandemic?

To provide the accurate and legible evidences towards the study.

To give a further understanding of the connection between the covid-19 pandemic, modular distance learning and the academic performance of the students.

Hypothesis. There is no significant relationship between the academic performance and behavior of the SHS students towards modular distance learning amidst covid 19 pandemic..

Scope and. Delimitation. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY.

The researcher limited the study to 30 randomly selected SHS students in Balete Integrated School whereas each of the respondents was given a questionnaire to answer and to know the effects of covid 19 pandemic on the behavior of the students. This study also aims to identify the impact of covid 19 pandemic on academic performance. For instance, the researcher will collect the First Semester’s final grades of the participants. The students selected came from Senior High School TVL and STEM strand in Balete Integrated School to prevent bias and get objective perceptions.

Definition of Terms. TERM DEFINITION Academic Performance the product of education, the degree to which a student, a teacher, or an organization has attained their educational goals. It is dignified as the final grade earned in the course. It is the result obtained by a student at the end of a specific term in all subjects. Modular Distance Learning (MDL) a form of distance learning that uses Self-Learning Modules (SLM) based on the most essential learning competencies (MELCS) provided by DepEd. The modules include sections on motivation and assessment that serve as a complete guide of both teachers’ and students’ desired competencies. Term 4 Term 5.

According to Bagood (2020), the transition of education delivery to modular distance learning has wrought difficulties for the quality of education, on the part of school staff. The DepEd is actively trying to find new ways to address current issues and capacitates its teachers and school heads for IT-based distance learning. Instructors along with program supervision prepared modules beginning in May 2020 in all subjects for all grade/year level access across four quarters in accordance with the "Essential Learning Competencies".

However, using modules has its advantages and disadvantages. According to M.T.B, 2017), the use of modules advocates self-directed learning. Using modules for learning leads to better self-study or learning skills among students. The concepts presented in the modules engross students in learning. The tasks provided develop a sense of responsibility among students. and they progressed on their own. They learn to learn; they are empowered. In addition, the students participate in real experiences. They discover new things, and they experience their knowledge on their own. Students learn to reflect on their own experiences, thus developing new skills, learning through modular direct students to be in charge of their own learning.

The study will use descriptive research design. The research will tackle the students’ perception of modular distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Descriptive is the best tool to understand the thoughts, feelings and behavior of the participants.
      The researchers will be administering survey forms to get a picture of the behaviors of the SHS students regarding the modular distance learning during the pandemic.

The sampling technique that will be used is simple random sampling so that the chosen participants picked fairly among the different sections. The target population for this study are the senior high students of Balete Integrated School for school year 2021-2022 who will assess the impacts of modular distance learning on the academic performance and behavior of students amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Since, this only focuses on the perception and behavior of the students, a total of 30 students will be picked to be part of this study as respondents.

Before collecting the data, the researchers obtain a letter signed by the research adviser and the principal authorizing them to distribute the questionnaires and collect the data from the respondents. The surveys will be distributed during the respondents’ vacant time which is the most acceptable time of distribution of the instruments to the respondents. After distributing the instruments, the respondents will be given enough time to answer all the questions properly. After the given time, the researchers will collect the questionnaires and analyze the data.
