[Audio] Good morning everyone. Today I'm here to discuss the benefits of our Business Rules Engine and how it can help achieve your business objectives. We'll talk about the Ruleset Vocabulary Query & Xpression components and the Rule Composer Menu and how they can be used to create and manage business rules. Let's get started..
[Audio] The AxeBRE platform enables business users to work with their business rules in an organized and efficient manner. It consists of four main components: Ruleset Vocabulary Query & Xpression and Rule Composer Menu. Business administrators can configure their business rules using the B-R-E and integrate them into the B-P-M or G-U-I as needed. The platform allows for rapid modeling authoring validation and publishing of rules with minimal code. Access is simple and secure; users just need to log in using a web browser with the provided username and password..
[Audio] The key building blocks for modelling business rules are Vocabulary Query Ruleset and Xpression components. Vocabulary component facilitates users in defining the terms used in a company’s rules. Query component gives users the capability to request or carry out actions on data from a database. Ruleset component allows users to formulate automated and combined business policies and procedures and Xpression component enables users to compose formulas or statements which give back values in accordance with the variables supplied. This Business Rules Engine provides a comprehensive set of tools to business users for generating validating and publishing rules..
[Audio] The screenshot illustrates a Ruleset Composer which enables business users to make change and manage rules. It contains different parts: The Ruleset part allows users to generate or adjust an existing rule such as the one entitled “Approval Process RB” in the image. The Source Items section determines the data items the rule applies to. The Conditions section explains the prerequisites that must be satisfied so the rule is triggered and the Actions section establishes the operations that will be done if the criteria are met. For example if the limit cap of a customer is exceeded the system will alert the user with the message “Requested limits are breached limit cap of the customer”..
[Audio] "The Business Rules Engine has two essential sections Datasources and Vocabulary which form the basis for creating the logic of your system by specifying the data that will be used. Through the Query section you can request and take action on data from a single or multiple tables the Ruleset section enables you to configure automated policies or operations while the Xpression section lets you make calculations by setting values as variables. With the Bulk section you can submit multiple actions on the query outcome and the Scheduler section provides the ability to set up a bulk query at a certain date and time with a repeating pattern. All these sections are accompanied by an Activity Log which gives insights into queries and rulesets executed helping to detect any possible issues..
[Audio] Administrators can link the B-R-E to an existing database by choosing the "New Datasource" option in the Rule Composer component. They need to provide a server address authentication type username and password and click the "Test Connection" button. If successful a list of databases will be displayed from which the administrator can select the target database..
[Audio] Vocabularies in B-R-E provide a range of attributes enabling users to customize rules according to their business needs. These attributes include the ability to create logic with logical and mathematical operators and assign values from a variety of sources. A summarization of available Vocabularies and their attributes are listed in the table. It outlines that static values are supported as well as Value Input Python and Ruleset.Furthermore types such as Number String Boolean Table Date and Description are also included. Is Nullable allows the user to leave certain Vocabularies blank or absent..
[Audio] Vocabularies are essential components of a business rules engine. They provide users with a set of terms and variables to define the conditions and actions of their rules. These terms or variables are assigned user-friendly names to improve readability and maintainability of the rules. This slide displays some of the key elements you can find in a vocabulary list such as the name given to each term the data type and descriptions to add context. In addition there may be other columns you can find in a vocabulary list such as whether the term is nullable its folder category and any custom attributes. Using vocabularies in a business rule engine is a great way to ensure consistency and accuracy in the rules you create..
[Audio] Queries are an essential element when working with databases. A Query is a request for data from a database table or a combination of tables. Using this Business Rules Engine users are able to design their own queries and leverage them to read or write data from and to the databases. The user can build three different types of queries: Fetch Queries Add Row Queries and Amend Queries. Fetch Queries allow a user to read information from a database carry out complex data mappings and calculations and interrogate data sources. The returned value from a Fetch Query can be Scalar Combo or Table. Scalar returns one value Combo is used for Datasource of a Combobox and Table returns more than one row or column. Add Row Queries enable a user to insert new records in the database's tables and Amend Queries allow a user to modify existing data in the tables and specify which record(s) should be updated..
[Audio] Queries are an integral part of a Business Rules Engine allowing businesses to retrieve update or insert data from a database that is necessary to evaluate the conditions and do actions of business rules. For example a business might need to fetch customer data to determine if they are eligible for a loan create a new account number when a customer signs the credit contract or update a customer's account status after a successful repayment. B-R-E-s make it easy to generate these queries for the user to check and verify it further as needed. The screenshot in the slide shows an example of a Fetch Query which includes elements such as Name Distinct and Group By. All of these are important for writing successful queries that generate the proper results..
[Audio] For the top section of your ruleset you can determine the number of records to return. You can also enable distinct filtering so that only different values are selected as well as grouping of rows with similar values which will create summary rows. This flexibility enables efficient and accurate processing of your business rules..
[Audio] Xpression is part of the Rule Composer menu which provides a user with the ability to configure a formula or statement that produces a value based on given variables. It can be accessed directly from the Rule Composer menu and provides users with the capabilities to manage search filter delete refresh add and expand the expression list..
[Audio] The Mathematics Xpression section is a simple editor that enables you to write an expression and use previously created vocabularies. To use a desired vocabulary press "Ctrl plus Scape" buttons and a tooltip will appear containing the source of the vocabulary. From there you can select the one you need and if necessary add the respective inputs. Moreover it has an autocompletion behavior to make it easier to use created vocabularies and several categories of functions..
[Audio] Ruleset section is a useful tool for users to automate various business policies or procedures efficiently. It consists of five different types of rulesets designed to cover different operational needs and requirements. Generic ruleset is designed to provide an output for various purposes like inserts and updates. Custom Error Handling is a feature that creates a blocking or warning message based on certain conditions.Pricing Condition ruleset sets the pricing rules that would apply based on certain conditions. Start Workflow ruleset provides the rules that should be applied before initiating a workflow based on some conditions. Lastly Accounting Schema ruleset enables the use of different accounting schemas..
[Audio] A Ruleset forms the basis of any Business Rules Engine. It entails a set of activities used to streamline multiple processes such as amending data in a database sending out notifications and custom error handling. To give an example a Business Rules Engine could update a customer’s account balance following receipt of repayment; launch an email notification to the Relationship Manager upon approval of the customer’s loan; or prevent a user from continuing if the customer’s input fails to meet the predetermined rules..
[Audio] The Ruleset consists of two primary blocks Message Action and Assert Action and various additional actions at the user's disposal like Add Row Amend or Batch. The user can create the different conditions applicable to the rule in the Conditions section by using Predicates and Vocabularies. The Action section enables the user to construct the action of the rule by selecting one of the available options provided for the modeled type of the Ruleset..
