[Audio] Why, What drives us and what are hoping to get from this Energy Management in implementation.
[Audio] Typically, we want to install sub meters because we need to understand how much energy our machinery and equipment consume. It's a one-time project that we've implemented to see our potential savings. We also aim for certification. All of these reasons are valid on their own, but individually, they are not sufficient to fully implement comprehensive energy management.".
[Audio] This energy management can be so much more.. IT has potential to be a good thing for the organization but it has to be implemented with goal clearly stated from the beginning. EM system has been in many different names ISO 50,0001, Superior EM, whatever we want To call it in different names but the goal is to SAVE MONEY. Mean is cautioning against pursuing goals that require significant investment or resources if you don't have a clear plan or financial backing to support it. It implies that without proper financial security or preparedness, the effort may not be successful or worth the investment. If at the end of implementation when you sit down and write the goal how you are going to implement it IF you don't have a pile of money somewhere that you know what you're gonna save… don't do it.. It's not gonna be worth it.. Other thing is that people tend to install energy management information system meaning meters in computers, And they think they're gonna solve all the problems. Those are gonna tell you that it has a problem.. They will not solve it for you. So don't expect unreasonable expectation to start with… The saving and there are savings always..but saving come from the action you take based on the Information that you're given.. No Actions, No Savings..no matter how good our system is...
[Audio] Here are the reasons why implementing the Energy Management System (EnMS) is crucial. Most people don't naturally think about it this way, but knowing exactly where and how much energy each piece of machinery and equipment consumes is vital. Why? Because it's all about where you're going to spend your money. Imagine having 3-5 machines, all using electricity. How would you know which one is the least efficient unless you have sub meters and a system in place to tell you? This insight helps you make operational improvements. For example, with preventive maintenance, if you notice energy consumption creeping up on a machine, it's a sign that something is starting to go wrong. If you catch this early, you can take action before the machine shuts down at the worst possible time—like when you have an urgent order from a customer. Better utilization rates mean you can produce more products with the same amount of energy, making your operation more efficient..
[Audio] So if good EM does all of this.. it conserve energy.
[Audio] As a Manufacturing Facility We get a customer for different reasons each one of you have different reasons Why ISSP was getting New parts, increase order… because of our amazing sales, unique processes and products quality and our customer Cannot find any other vendor who has that process.. Whatever the reason is we win that contract , therefore that's PIC Benefits.. That's the organizational benefit in the market place.. But to keep that benefits, to be more competitive we have to control the operational cost, We cant just make it as expensive as we will because they will eventually find another solution.. So to keep that going we have to control our operational cost.. So we have to have a cost advantage In this intersection between Benefits and Cost Advantage in the industry that's our value proposition to the customer.. I'm gonna give you this benefits at this… don't go anywhere else because I am the only one Who can supply you… that amount of ally/partnership that's why we get a customer or customer increase their orders As a manufacturing facility, we attract customers for various reasons. Each one of you has different motivations. Whether it's due to our exceptional sales team, our unique processes, or the high quality of our products, our customers find value in what we offer that they can't find anywhere else. This is why we win contracts and why our customers keep coming back—that's our competitive advantage. However, to maintain these benefits and stay competitive, we need to control our operational costs. We can't afford to let our prices become too high, or our customers might look for alternatives. To keep our edge, we must focus on cost efficiency. This balance between providing benefits and maintaining a cost advantage is what sets us apart in the marketplace. In essence, we're saying to our customers, "I'll give you these benefits at this cost—don't go anywhere else because I'm the only one who can provide this unique value." This strong partnership is why we secure new customers and see increased orders from existing ones..
[Audio] So lets think now about energy,, Reducing energy will actually reduce our operational cost.. That's pretty standard , straightforward.. everybody understands.. That which will increase your cost advantage.. But an energy is unique ..in this reducing consumption will also Reduce our carbon footprint, it will enhance working condition often and improve public image Therefore our benefit will grow as well.. As the end result of managing energy.. Where we will do is… we will increase our value preposition to the customers.. So only by reducing energy we don't have to do two things at the same.. We do one thing and it acts both sides of the equation.. Our value proposition to the customer will go up Now, let's talk about energy. Reducing energy consumption directly reduces our operational costs. That's pretty straightforward and something everyone understands—it boosts our cost advantage. But energy is unique because reducing consumption also lowers our carbon footprint. This can enhance working conditions and improve our public image. Consequently, our benefits grow. By managing energy effectively, we increase our value proposition to customers. By simply reducing energy, we achieve multiple benefits simultaneously. We do one thing, and it positively impacts both sides of the equation, enhancing our value to customers..
[Audio] The other thing that we keep forgetting is.. If I remember my days in African industry when Somebody said let's control our cost.. It usually meant one of three things.. I cannot make copies on two sides of the paper I have to call the vendor and get 10% discount and 10% of our workforce was cut that's how what they meant controlling cost actually means… Energy is different.. Energy is actually the thing that will make our facility better and everybody will feel better as a result nobody has to leave. They will in most cases will better off because of the environment will be cleaner in the facility.. If we have proper system in place, we will produce more product for the same amount of energy.. Because we know how to use it.. everybody wins… We have better public image..which is which speaks to the corporate image And we have better employee engagement because they are happier they are not freezing anymore.. Therefore you have better corporate financial because everybody knows that happier employees, More productive employees better for our finance...
[Audio] So now I already addressed two issues.. What about risks..well let's look at it this way.. Managing Energy we said is going to create savings and those Savings are going to be based some actions, right? Action will be based on the decisions.. But now with energy management in place..knowing where energy is going..how much we use.. How we use it..We will be able to make decisions based on knowledge rather than on a hint, on a gut fell, On as a reaction to the marketplace… We will base on the actual facts.. With that picture actually looks like if you really think about it the other way around… From that way..this way,,its nothing more than our continuous energy management improvement...
[Audio] Which is the same as our Continuous improvement read all… Its no different…so following those same principles that we are familiar with.. To both energy efficiency improvements and to implementing our energy management Information system to begin with.. Will actually reduced our risks because everybody Familiar with the processes.. We will know what to expect and we will know how to get there.. Now I address 3 issues.
[Audio] I cannot stress this enough, it is crucial that I have TOP Management support because That ensures, even if I get started, even if in my own, I build enough momentum to help energy management in place, sustainability will go as soon as I leave on this organization.. Having any management in charge of this program ensure sustainability no matter who the person in charge is at the moment.. So the more you can support the more gap and support you can gather the longer-term savings you're gonna Get out of the project I cannot stress this enough—having top management support is crucial. It ensures that even if I get started on my own, I can build enough momentum to establish a robust energy management system. Without this support, sustainability efforts may fall apart as soon as I leave the organization. When top management is in charge of this program, it ensures sustainability, regardless of who is leading at any given time. The more support we gather, the more significant and long-term savings we can achieve from the project..
