Introduction Endocrine disrupting phthalates (EDPs) are exogenous chemicals which adversely affect any aspect of the hormonal system. Endocrine-disrupting phthalates (EDPs) are widely used as plasticizers for the manufacture of different plastics and polyvinyl chloride for providing flexibility and mechanical strength  There is a growing concern about release of EDPs and some other micro pollutant from and industrial and municipal wastewater to aquatic environment.

Methodology Mineral  salt medium  ( MSM) was used to support the bacterial biomass growth on phthalates mixture. Mixture of six  phthalates served as sole carbon source. viz. Dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP),  bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and di-n-octyl phthalate ( DnOP )

Conclusions: Cell  recycle  bioreactor system with the  tubular ceramic membrane  proved the best for phthalate biodegradation .  High seed germination index and low mortality percentage of brine  shrimps demonstrate negligible toxicity and reuse potential of the treated water Indigenous tubular ceramic membrane is robust and low-cost

Tubular  ceramic membrane  was fabricated using locally available cheap  raw  materials such as quartz, ball clay, calcium carbonate,  pyrophyllite , kaolin, and  feldspar.

Biodegradation experiments  were performed  under:

Mixed raw materials 3 wt.% sodium salt of  carboxymethyl  cellulose Sintering at 950   C  for 6 h Oven Drying at 200   C  for 24 h Natural Drying for 24 h Ultrasonication  to remove loose particles Polishing and Sizing Membrane drying at 100   C Characterization Extrusion
